Disneyland has many amusement parks around the world: Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Florida and California, plus a future park in Shanghai. As a child, I always thought Disneyland Paris was the only and authentic one, but it is actually the one in Anaheim, California, the original one. Opened on July 17th, 1955, it was the only theme park designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney, and it is soon becoming 60 years old.
I’m soon visiting their park in Anaheim, and before arriving, I started doing some research about it, because since it is really big and we have limited time, I wanted to get the most out of it and not be stressed by the overwhelming crowds of kids.First of all, there are two big parks connected: Disneyland Park, which is the original one, more classical. And Disney California Adventure Park.
The amusement park has 8 lands: Main Street (USA), Adventureland, New Orleans Sq., Frontierland, Fantasyland, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland. The Adventure Park has Hollywood Land, Pacific Wharf, Paradise Pier, A bug’s land, Grizzly Peak, Cars Land, and Buena Vista Street.
You can meet some of your favorite Disney characters, and on their website you can see which ones will be around when and where to have a higher chance of meeting them. I personally wanted to check the Aladdin mini-musical performance at 12:40, 14:20, 16:45 or 18:20 in Disney California Adventure Park (Hollywood Land), maybe see the Jedi Training Academy (that is only for kids unfortunately) at 10:30, 11:35, 12:40, 14:25, 15:30 or 16:35 and Paint the Night Parade at 20:50 or 23:00, which is a special performance to celebrate the 60 anniversary of the Park. Hopefully I will also see some princesses in Fantasyland (from 9:00 to 19:00). It’s incredible… on that Saturday the park would be open 24h…
Fireworks at 21:30 in front of the Disney castle. Also Disneyland parade at 16:30 in the main street near the gate, same as Paint the Night. And one of the things I look forward the most is actually the souvenir shops :p I’m going to try on many things and take silly pictures, as usual ^^
During my research, I also found this interesting thing: “Club 33 is a private club located in the heart of the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland. Officially maintained as a secret feature of the theme park, the entrance of the club is located next to the Blue Bayou Restaurant at “33 Royal Street” with the entrance recognizable by an ornate address plate with the number 33 engraved on it.” I will pay a visit, although I won’t be able to enter I love this kind of things T^T
And to end this short pre-Disney post, a few words from Walt Disney:
To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.
